TEAM COMPOSITION
VP, Product Manager, a UX/UI designer
OVERVIEW
In today's digital world, cybersecurity threats are rapidly increasing. Industrial facilities using specialized control systems (electricity, water, HVAC, etc.) are at high risk.
This project focuses on creating a visual platform to display resilience test results, generated by a product developed to enhance the security of systems and protect critical infrastructures from cyberattacks
PROBLEM
The existing tests for protecting operational systems such, as OT and SCADA, are manual, insufficiently accurate, and require substantial resources
SOLUTION
DVPLAN provides automated and comprehensive penetration testing services, identifying security vulnerabilities, analyzing the network architecture and delivering digital reports with targeted recommendations to strengthen cyber security.
RESEARCH
Interviews of the product manager and the VP of Engineering to understand the key business and technical requirements. Below some of the interviews key questions:
Who is the target audience?
What sources of information will feed the dashboard and how will the process be carried out?
What is the frequency of the data received from the system?
What critical assets or processes are being monitored in the system?
What types of vulnerabilities would you like to have in the dashboard?
What are the most important criteria would you like to display?
What level of details would you like to have in the dashboard?
In addition, benchmarking similar products helps identify trends, understand industry standards, and make informed decisions.
Wise-Mon
Following the research, many insights emerged about the need for a simple and accessible design that will allow Client’s senior management and the cyber security teams to easily understand the test results and what is required to protect the systems from cyber threats.
Pain Points
New threats
Difficulty in coping with rapid development of cyber threats to operational systems
Operational Disruptions
Concern of critical system disruptions during penetration testing.
Financial loss
Need of a large team of experts for comprehensive checks
Accuracy and consistency
Quality of penetration tests changes according to the tester skills, may lead to missing critical vulnerabilities
Data Presentation
Difficulty in making security gaps accessible to senior management
Limited resources
Time limits make it difficult to perform a thorough inspection of all systems, which leads to security gaps
